Breast Lift And Augmentation 500cc

Changing the volume of an implant can be performed, but you may want to go with a different shaped implant to get the desired shape that you want. You also have to give yourself some times to heal from your surgery. I would wait 3-6 months before undergoing additional surgery. (Steven Wallach, MD, Manhattan Plastic Surgeon)

Generally speaking, you should give your body some time to heal from your initial surgery and allow your tissues to stretch and accomodate. Of course, you can go bigger at a later date. Many factors are involved in deciding what size implant to place. You shouldn’t just put in 500cc implant. You need to also take into account your body dimensions, chest dimensions, breast dimensions, skin quality, tissue quality, whether the implant is above the muscle, entirely below the muscle or partially under the muscle.

Additionally, 50 cc’s is not much of a difference for most people. (Sanjay Grover, MD, Orange County Plastic Surgeon)

As you know it is hard for us to know enough to give you good advice, but your existing surgeon should know more about you. Before you make another change in the next few months, I suggest you would be better informed if you consulted in person with to one or two other surgeons.

In general, I would suggest a patient choose their implant size, with their surgeon’s input, carefully pre-op. If the early appearance is not what you wanted, you really should wait 4-6 months to heal well and become accustomed to your new body proportions. Then, with surgeon’s advice you should reassess. You may not be a good candidate for 500cc implants even if you want them to be larger. I agree with other comments here that 50cc’s more may not be worthwhile for an additional surgery.

I would generally use new, 500cc implants if you were to change. Your surgeon’s office manager should be able to tell you what the additional costs would be. (Sutton Graham II, MD, Greenville Plastic Surgeon)

It is preferable to let your body heal for at least 3 months or longer before a secondary surgery. If after wating you still decide that you really want to go bigger, make sure that this time, you get exactly what you want. Take your time and really make sure that you change to a big enough size that you see a difference.

In my experience, if a woman wishes to go bigger and it bothers her enough that she is willing to undergo another surgery just to go bigger, she will usually end up with 200cc more at least. In my office, we have designed bras to demonstrate the size difference and it is something you can do at home. My administrator gives the following instructions on how to do it at home: ‘Buy an unpadded bra that is stretchy and lined (preferably with lots of spandex in it).

Cut a small hole in the top of the liner on the inside and fill will rice. You will measure the rice in a Pyrex measuring cup that has mL marking on the side. Start with 150mL which is equal to 150cc. Put the bra on and shape it until it is super smooth and put on a tight fitting tank top with a shelf bra to hold it in place. Add or subtract as needed until you are happy with the size.

Poor the rice back into the measuring cup and write down the number. This is the number you will add to the amount you already have. If you already have 350cc and you measure out 150cc of rice, you want 500cc implants. It may sound big, don’t worry about it. Everybody is different and if you use the system, you will be sure to get the size you want.’ (Thomas T. Nguyen, MD, Orange County Plastic Surgeon)

Each and every one of your questions are ones you should review with your plastic surgeon. These are not the kinds of things to seek answers for on the internet. You hopefully chose an excellent doctor whom you trusted with your health and care and you owe it to them to address these issues directly with them, not with doctors on the internet. All the answers to your questions should come from someone who knows you best! (Richard P. Rand, MD, FACS, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)

At this point, I would hold off on thinking about any further surgery. You are very early in the healing process and you should wait until you are 4 months out from surgery to see how things shape. 50 cc more will not be a significant difference, likely not much that you will notice.

If you decide to go larger, you would need a larger (different) implant. Therefore, there would be the cost of the implant, anesthesia, surgery center and likely the surgeon fee, which would be less than the first time around. However, I suggest to hold off on any further surgery and see what shapes out. (Farbod Esmailian, MD, Orange County Plastic Surgeon)

The difference you are talking about is very small and your result is not yet mature. I would advise that you wait at last a few months to let things sort out. You can of course discuss the technical/monetary details with your surgeon. There is no standard policy. Each practice runs differently. (John P. Di Saia, MD, Orange Plastic Surgeon)

You can go bigger

Your concerns are a very common feeling for patients who have had breast augmentation. Almost everyone feels they could have or should have gone bigger. 5o cc is a very small increase in size, about a bfull shot glass. It can be done by using your current implants but if the final volume is greater than the manufacturer’s maximum volume it theoretically voids the warrenty. Since the only other option iof paying for 500cc implants anyhow, it maeks sense to just use the implants that you have now and add fluid to them. ‘The cost depends on you surgeon. This can be an office procedure. (John P. Stratis, MD, Harrisburg Plastic Surgeon)

Be patient!

You are so early after breast augmentation that there is no reason to even think about a revision operation at this time. I would have you wait until 6 months to evaluate your results. (Gary Lawton, MD, FACS, San Antonio Plastic Surgeon)

Because you are so early into your recovery phase, you will need to wait longer before you decide on a revision. It will take a few months for your healing to continue, which will give you a better idea of your final result. If after six months you are still really unhappy with your size, you might want to book an appointment with your surgeon. That being said, you will require 500cc breast implants and the same surgical procedure – it will cost in the same range as your initial surgery. Talk to your doctor carefully and thoroughly about what you would want to achieve, as a 50cc might not be a significant enough increase for your goals. (Frank Lista, MD, Toronto Plastic Surgeon)
