Barry M. Weintraub, MD, FACS

Name: Barry M. Weintraub, MD, FACS
Statement: Dr. Barry M. Weintraub, MD, FACS is a board-certified plastic surgeon in New York City with over 30 years of experience. As a top plastic surgeon in NYC, he takes a “less is more” approach by prioritizing conservative, understated attention to detail that allows his patients’ natural beauty to shine through. “I always remember that every surgical result will be with my patients for the rest of their lives. Therefore, I do not rush my surgeries,” says Dr. Weintraub. “Precision and care ensure long-lasting and natural-looking results.”

Dr. Weintraub specializes in plastic surgery of the face and body, specializing in rhinoplasty, facelift and neck lifts, and breast enhancement, using the transaxillary approach (which places the implants through an incision in the armpit). He’s proud to utilize the most cutting-edge technologies to ensure procedures are minimally invasive, while providing maximum benefits to his patients.

After graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University, Dr. Weintraub obtained his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical Center. He then completed internships at UCLA Medical Center’s Harbor General Hospital, did his residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and completed his plastic surgical fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Over his 35-plus year tenure as an esteemed plastic surgeon in New York City, he’s gained membership into the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Rhinoplasty Society, and the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons. He’s also an American College of Surgeons fellow.

Because of impressive experience and Ivy League credentials, Dr. Weintraub is often consulted by his peers on complex plastic surgery cases. He is comfortable with every level of challenge and prides himself in delivering results that patients will be happy with for the rest of their lives.

Dr. Weintraub feels it’s extremely important to address all questions during a consultation. For this reason, he schedules a full hour to discuss every detail with new patients. Those who aren’t in NYC can complete their consultation via video chat and/or a phone call.

Eyes suddenly asymmetrical, do I actually need surgery after this change?
When Eyelid Surgery Is NOT Needed!
Nov 27, 2023
No one‘s eyes are exactly symmetrical. As a matter fact, if you draw a line down the center of the face bisecting the forehead, nose and chin, you will find that each side of the face — including the eyes — are not twins, but siblings. There is the slightest degree of asymmetry in everyone from side to side. I do not see gross asymmetry in your photos, and therefore would not recommend surgery at this point in time. Having said that, there are situations where patients develop ptosis and o…

Scars/Incisions For Male Facelift/Neck Lift Patients
Nov 27, 2023
Like many men, you have jowl formation and excess skin laxity at the jowl level and below the jawline. When performing a neck lift, it is much more effective to re-drape the excessive unwanted neck skin if a lower-facelift is included. However, I have good news for you: particularly in men, one can undermine and red drape the neck skin below the jawline with incisions only behind the ear and under the chin. Sometimes a small vertical incision is made under the chin, leaving a very fine line…

When Can I Wear Glasses After A Rhinoplasty?
Nov 27, 2023
My preference is, in general, always to rasp nasal bones rather than breaking them whenever possible. The fracturing of nasal bones can be traumatic and can cause more bruising and swelling than needed. One could say that rasping is the rule in my practice, not the exception.

With respect to your question, rasping of a callus can be performed in the operating room with a series of rasps to refine the nasal dorsum and profile. Because no bones are broken, there are not fractured nasal…

Would I benefit from a facelift for the lax skin under my chin?
Do I Need a Neck Lift in My 40s?
Nov 22, 2023
This is Dr Barry Weintraub in New York City. You were fortunately blessed with beautiful bone structure and a sharp jawline. Unfortunately, as we get older, the skin on this lovely framework can loosen due to genetics, sunlight, stress, diet, and exercise. Unless you have the condition called Ehlers Danlos, where there is unusually loose skin on the entire body, you would benefit greatly from a conservative, understated, less-is-more neck lift, where all incisions are hidden in the inside of…
Columella continues dropping after 6 months. Do I need a revision?
Too much nostril show
Dec 8, 2022
Judging from the photograph you submitted, it appears that you have too much nostril show visible on the right nasal aperture. High-quality cosmetic nasal surgery is detailed and complex, always with a keen eye towards natural beauty. This can be fixed by raising the columella ever so slightly and making the nasolabial angle a bit less obtuse so the columella does not appear to hang. This is something that is commonly seen in my practice. Thank you very much for your inquiry and the ability…
