I’m concerned about the wrinkles around my eyes after upper and lower blepharoplasty and face lif
How to treat wrinkles around the eyes?
Jan 5, 2019
I agree with the other responses provide.
Communication and understanding expectations is always important.
Wrinkles around the eyes due to facial expression is not something that is generally treated surgically. This is something that can be improved with Botox. Removal of excess skin with surgery will lead to upper eyelid lagophthalmous (inability to close the eyes) or ectropion (deformity of the lower eyelid with tearing). If your surgeon did a low or…
I tripped and fell in my kitchen 14 days after original facelift and 12 days after hematoma fix.
What if I fall after my facelift?
Jan 5, 2019
Excellent question.
First you should check in with your surgeon.
In general a fall after surgery should be investigated for the cause of the fall. Patients are at risk for heart problems, stroke, blood clots, and other complications after an extended surgery. Ruling out a life threatening problem is most important.
If you did not develop a new hematoma you should be ok. If your surgeon used deep sutures to hold tissues in place it is possible you may have popped or…
How great is the risk of infection in the hospital for a facelift & when would I know I got infec
Should I have my facelift in the hospital?
Jan 5, 2019
This is an excellent question.
The risks of an infection after a facelift is very low. The excellent blood supply to the face makes this uncommon. Many dermatologist doing cancer procedures on the face use clean laytex non-sterile gloves. Studies have shown their infection rate is no greater than those who use sterile gloves. I am not suggesting you should have surgery without sterile glove. I am trying to provide evidence for the low risks of infection in the face.

How will I age after a facelift?
Jan 5, 2019
Excellent question.
Fine wrinkles on the skin are related mainly to sun exposure and smoking history. These are best treated with resurfacing, smoking cessation and sun protection.
Changes in the neck may be related to descent of the submandibular glands, deep fat descent, laxity of the platysma muscle, and finally skin. The aging after a facelift depends on the type of lift performed. A procedure that relies of lifting and tightening structures will always lead to…
Should a facelift incision be in front of or behind the tragus?
Where should the facelift scar be place?
Jan 5, 2019
This is an excellent question and there is no write or wrong answer. It is important for your surgeon to use the incision she or her is most comfortable with and avoid tension at the time of closure.
In my own practice the majority of patients have incisions placed behind the tragus. It is less visible. Patients who may have incision in front of the tragus include those with pre-existing deep creases in front of the ear. Patients who’s cheek skin is very different from their tragus skin…
How long should I wait for the filler to completely go away before I sit down with a surgeon for
Can I have a facelift consult just after having fillers (Juvaderm)?
Jan 5, 2019
Thank you for your question.
Most of the patients I see for facelifts have fillers in place. I ask patients to bring in pictures that show what they would like changed as well as pictures from when they were younger. Based on patient characteristics, facial features, desires, and surgical goals an individualized plan is created.
The day prior to surgery I inject patients with hyaluronidase. This will dissolve the filler. The surgical procedure is done while…
How do I achieve the V-shape jawline and get rid of my chubby face?
Can I get a V shape with fillers / soft lift ?
Jan 5, 2019
You have a youthful jawline compared to the patient I see for facelift surgery. This makes any surgical intervention a challenge. Anything that would produce scars or have significant risks would need to be weighed against the potential benefits. In your case the potential benefits of jawline enhancement may be limited.
Fillers have the advantage of little down time and immediate results. If you want to dissolve the filler you can do so immediately. The disadvantage of fillers…
