Will removal of bonding change the structure of my teeth and make my gap bigger?
Opening up the gap again
Jun 20, 2019
Removing the bonding in between the teeth can be done carefully if natural tooth structure was not altered to place them. Often times, tooth structure is changed, beveled and permanently removed to create a seamless transition from composite (the white filling material) to the natural tooth. If that is the case, removing the composites would warrant some sort of replacement.
Prepare yourself for an “enamel replacement” such as composite or porcelain to help you achieve…
Will whitening the back of my tooth help to prevent the veneer shade to get darker?
Whitening with Veneers
Jun 16, 2019
Short and sweet answer here:
The veneer and crown shades should not change in ten years. Your natural teeth will darken over time without whitening.
“Whitening the veneered tooth from behind” should not be considered, unless the tooth had been darkened from injury/root canal treatment. In that case, an internal bleach can help alter a necrotic tooth.
Do any insurance companies pay for 4 and 1 or is considered cosmetic surgery?
All on 4 – Insurance coverage
Jun 14, 2019
An All-on-4 fixed prothesis is typically not covered under dental benefit plans. A traditional set of dentures are usually covered to some degree. Traditional dentures are considered “usual and customary”. An all-on-4 is a far better solution, but is not “usual and customary”. It is a fairly expensive treatment that requires a great deal of doctor training and the use of superior materials and laboratories.
An all-on-4 prothesis is fairly complex…
I have All-on-Fours and the abutments show in the top gum. Is this normal?
Abutment showing on top
Jun 9, 2019
Abutments sometimes show in the esthetic zone when tissues heal and recede. With the the proper implant height selection, the final prosthesis should fit the tissues well and not reveal the underlying abutments especially in the maxilla (upper arch).
That being said, each case is different and has it’s own difficulties and challenges. Without radiographs, CBCT imagining, and/or photographs, a comprehensive evaluation with recommendations is difficult.
Can All-on-6 Dental Implants improve your overbite or make it worse?
Overbite concerns
Jun 8, 2019
Your final prosthesis should be able to be designed to improve your overbite. Your current dentist should be working with you to alter the smile/bite to your satisfaction.
Moving forward, I’d consider a second temporary to help correct the bite and improve cosmetics before moving forward with the final prosthesis. Consult with a few doctors to help educate yourself and understand you case better.
One other item to consider is your mandibular (lower) teeth,…
Am I too young to have an all on 4 procedure?
All on 4 vs. Traditional Treatment
Jun 8, 2019
An all on 4 procedure makes a lot of sense for a lot of patients. That being said, their is maintenance for all dental treatments and no absolutes. At the age of 33, that’s a big step forward.
If cost is a concern, remove the teeth that cannot be treated and repair those that can. Make investments in your dentition a little bit at a time. Adding implants and crowns one at a time is much less invasive at such an early age. Be sure to get multiple…
From X-ray, how should this tooth be treated?
Infected tooth
Jun 8, 2019
A second opinion from a specialist would be recommended in this case. If the tooth can be saved, a root canal is necessary. If the infection is extensive, an extraction and implant replacement would be a suitable option.
