Answer Snippet
Are welts after IPL a normal side effect?
IPL side effects
Jul 3, 2023
IPL is often associated with welt formation during or just after treatment.
However, this appears to be an isolated acne lesion, and it does not look like a burn or welt.
I'd expect this to resolve in the next few days without consequence.
Is Sculptra a good option for me?
Sculptra for fat loss volume restoration
Jul 2, 2023
Yes, Sculptra is perfect for what you are trying to achieve with overall facial volume and cheek filling.
Some of the benefits of Sculptra over other fillers include:
1. Slow collagen building over time.
2. Natural result with less chance of looking "overdone".
3. Longer duration than hyaluronic acid fillers.
4. Ability to address overall facial volume more economically over the long-term
Patience is key, as it takes 2-3 treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart to see significant results.

Will BroadBand Light for freckles affect hair follicles? Would Rogaine help with growth?
BBL and hair loss
Jul 2, 2023
BBL includes wavelengths between 515nm - 1200nm for pigment and 590nm - 1200nm for hair removal. Given the significant overlap, there is potential for hair reduction when treating dark spots like freckles. It is quite possible that you will regrow most of the affected hair because it takes at least 6 treatments for permanent reduction. The affected hairs can take 2-3 months to reappear at near normal levels. I always counsel male patients about this, particularly on the face when...
What is the best laser to treat sun damage discoloration on chest?
BBL for chest sun damage
Oct 12, 2019
I agree with the other responders to your question that BBL should effectively treat the changes you describe.  It is possible that the selection of settings and/or the hand piece filter were not optimized for your skin changes.  The chest will be more at risk than the face for adverse effects if treatment is too aggressive.  See a physician with extensive BBL experience, and keep in mind that at least 3-5 treatments will be necessary.
Should you avoid Broad Based Light (BBL) during the summer?
BBL and HALO during the summer
Oct 12, 2019
The skin changes you are describing sound ideal for treatment with BBL and HALO.  Most patients who are not on a tight time schedule are advised to wait until the Fall/Winter --- however, I am in Colorado where the sun is more intense at the high altitude and outdoor activities are so popular.  At the least, I encourage my patients to have minimal sun exposure for 1 month before treatment, and then rigorous sun protection after treatment to prevent skin darkening and irritation.  Any tan ...
Can BBL Sciton: 560 filter application be used to remove freckles? My understanding was 515 for p
BBL treatment - 515nm vs 560nm
Oct 12, 2019
I have found BBL to be a very effective device for removing freckles.  The choice of filter is determined by the patient skin type, the darkness of the freckles, and whether there is also prominent redness.  If you are darker Fitzpatrick skin type (3 to 4 or higher), or if your freckles are on the darker side, or if you have prominent vessels/redness in addition to your freckles then 560nm filter would be appropriate, at least for the initial treatment.  After getting some improvement, the ...

Recovery after Kybella
Oct 12, 2019
In my experience with Kybella, many patients do not get nodules during the recovery.  When nodules do occur they tend to be deep, small, and palpable but not visible; all of the nodules I have palpated have resolved within 2 months.  Swelling is almost guaranteed, and this too can last 2-3 weeks.  It can take a full 2-3 months, possibly even longer, to see the final result of the Kybella session.  So I don't think the fact that your submental area hasn't "hardened or broken up" is an indica...
