Answer Snippet
Can a labiaplasty and mastopexy be combined? Should I have these done at different times?
Combining procedures
Mar 7, 2023
A typical mommy make over address the breasts and abdomen, but the procedure is customized for each individual. If your main concerns are your breasts and labia, these procedures can absolutely be combined. Advantages are one recovery and anesthesia. Hope this helps.
Mommy makeover recovery. Will I be okay to go abroad and go on a waterslide 7 weeks after surgery?
Travel and activity after surgery
Mar 7, 2023
It depends. There are different opinions on when you can engage in strenuous activity following a tummy tuck. The range is anywhere from 1 – 6 months. I typically allow my patients to return to all activity at 6 weeks, but some are still hesitant to do so. As long as you don’t have any issues with healing, you should be able to do this.
Limits on procedure – can I get enough weight removed to have an hourglass figure in one procedure?
Hourglass figure
Mar 7, 2023
It is difficult to accurately answer your question without a physical exam. With your height and weight, your BMI is around 38. At this BMI, your risk of complications such as blood clots, infection and wound healing issues are significantly elevated. I would suggest you attempt to lose as much weight as possible prior to proceeding with surgery.
BMI of around 33 – should I undergo weight loss surgery before having a mommy makeover?
Weight loss before mommy make over
Mar 3, 2023
It is always advisable to lose as much weight as possible before undergoing breast and abdominal surgery. An in person examination would allow your surgeon to determine how much visceral (internal) fat you have and what kind of result you can expect.
Should I still be able to pinch fat 1 year after my mommy makeover?
Skin laxity after mommy make over
Mar 3, 2023
There will always be some skin laxity in the abdomen and flanks when bending over, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to stand up completely straight. Over time, skin will weaken. The amount of time it takes to do so is different in every person. Pulling things too tight during surgery can lead to widening of the scar and wound healing issues as well. Skin should not be loose after a tummy tuck, but being able to pinch a small amount of fat or skin is reasonable in my opinion. Hope that helps.
Am I a candidate for a Mommy Makeover?
Mommy make over candidate after PE
Mar 3, 2023
Based on your photos, I would say yes. Based on your medical history, I would say maybe, but not right at the moment. It is not safe to perform the above procedures while on therapeutic Lovenox. In addition, it would be important for you to see a hematologist to determine if you have a clotting disorder which could increase your chances of developing a PE. Surgery itself is a risk factor for PE. Tummy tucks have a significantly elevated risk, and when surgeries are combined the risk also…
What are the BMI requirements to have a tummy tuck?
BMI and risk of surgery
Mar 3, 2023
As BMI increases so do certain risks including: DVT, infection and wound healing problems. Each surgeon has a different cut off. Some of this also depends on the patient’s anatomy. I would prefer that patients have a BMI below 30 to undergo the above procedures, but in some instances would operate on a patient up to 35. I will not perform the above procedures on a patient with a BMI above 35.
