I’m so frustrated with my breast augmentation… Will this even out?
Asymmetry post augmentation!
Mar 11, 2019
Hi Pathersmom86,
Thanks for your question and sorry you are having trouble. I see exactly what you are talking about. At 10 weeks, it is unlikely to change very much and I feel if you were to try to push down your left breast to make the breast mound sit under the nipple, it may make the appearance worse. You may need a revision that could include a lift on the left side to get the nipple up on the breast mound and therefore make it more symmetric.
Hope this…
Red scars 9 months post mastopexy, will they fade?
Mastopexy scars!

Hi Whatalift,
Thanks for your question. It appears that you do have some scar widening and your scars are still maturing. I would wait the full year before making your final judgement on them. In the meantime, scar massage can help and be sure to avoid the sun!
Hope this helps!

Are my breast implants bottoming out?
Are my implants bottoming out?
Mar 11, 2019
Hi lovejanedo,
Thanks for your question. You are very early postop and still have the ability to change what you see there. I would make sure that your post-surgical garment is holding your inframammary fold at the same level. That will help the capsule to form in the right spot. You did start asymmetric and as such you will likely always be a little different side to side.
Hope this helps!

I had my implants 2 years ago. I have the ridge showing on the bottom left breast. What can I do
Ridge on bottom of left breast
Mar 11, 2019
Hi gmacasey4,
Thanks for your question. The ridge could be a number of things and I would follow-up with your board certified plastic surgeon. The most likely cause is a fold in the implant if the area is thin. This is a form of rippling. However, I would get an examination to be sure.
Hope this helps!

Hello, I was wanting to know if I can do just implants without a lift?
Can I get away without a lift and just do an augmentation?
Mar 11, 2019
Hi Chelsea0918,
Thanks for your question. It is one I hear often. A lift is more expensive, gives you scars on your breast and is overall more to recover from. However, a lift may be the only way to give you great breast shape.
From your photos (without actually measuring you), it does look like you need a lift with an augmentation. You could try to use a larger implant to give an “autolift” but I don’t believe you would be happy with this as there is a…
Implants falling into armpits after 10 months. Is this the Dr’s mistake?
Breasts falling to the side!
Mar 11, 2019
Hi Persistent3772,
Thanks for your question. Larger implants do have a tendency to fall to the side, especially when laying. I always suggest to my patients that the wear a supportive bra at night to prevent the slow stretch on the lateral breast over time and help prevent that. Even then, it can still happen, depending on how strong you dermis and cooper’s ligament is.
So in summary, its hard to tell why it happened but there are some things you can do to help slow it down…
Curious why different doctors have different support bras/bandages post op?
Why are there so many post-surgical bras?
Mar 11, 2019
Hi everanneden,
Thanks for your question. Its a good one. It really is personal preference and part of the art of the procedure. My approach is to get patients into a post-surgical garment that is comfortable enough that they will wear it and just the right amount of support. This allows the implants to drop in a controlled manner. As well, I don’t like it when the implants sit to wide apart and therefore and fussy about how my garment keeps my medial pocket…
Can I just get breast implants or I absolutely need a breast lift too?
Do I need a lift?
Mar 11, 2019
Hi Caring4837,
Thanks for your question and the photos. A breast lift can be performed at the time of the augmentation or at a second stage. For my patients, I perform their measurements and make a suggestion. If they are not ok with trading shape for scars, then we consider staging it. Of course, having a larger implant will help give some additional lift. If you feel they are too low, we can then go back at a second stage and perform the lift.
Hope this…

Breasts to low post augmentation
Mar 11, 2019
Hi Mamasue123,
Thanks for the question and the photos. From what you provided it looks like you have very firm capsules and that would account for the implants being “stuck” in the same, low position. If you were to visit me I would do some measurements and likely suggest performing a revision augmentation mastopexy to improve breast shape and release your capsules.
Hope this helps!
Do I have a chance doing an elective surgery being on Eliquis (blood thinners)?
Blood thinners and breast augmentation
Feb 19, 2019
Hi Neat7007,
Breast augmentation is an elective procedure and as such the level of risk should be very low. Hematoma is a very real possible complication in individuals not on blood thinners. As such, it would be rare to find a surgeon who would be willing to perform the procedure with excessive additional risks.
Hope this helps!
Is fat grafting the best solution for double bubble complication?
Double bubble complication?
Feb 19, 2019
Hi Grace707,
You are still very early and one week is not enough time to see a double-bubble deformity develop. It appears that you are slightly swollen which is quite expected at this stage in your recovery.
Hope this helps!
Do I need to stop Accutane before having breast augmentation surgery?
Accutane?
Feb 19, 2019
Hi tdfrench,
Thanks for your question. Accutane can theoretically slow wound healing. However, it is difficult to study and the evidence is currently poor. Therefore different surgeons have different approaches to it. I would ask your surgeon specifically.
Hope this helps!
Are my breasts too wide set to achieve cleavage?
Can I get cleavage after breast augmentation?
Feb 19, 2019
Hi janx0x0x,
You look like a great candidate to achieve cleavage post-operatively. Indeed, the larger the implant, the more cleavage you will potentially have. Cleavage does depend on how the pocket is dissected. I would just make sure that your surgeon knows your expectations.
Best wishes for your operation!
Am I a good candidate for a breast augmentation at 5 feet and 90lbs?
Am I a good candidate for breast augmentation?
Feb 19, 2019
Hi and thanks for your question,
You look like a great candidate for a breast augmentation. However, it would be important to see you in consultation, review your expectations and perform a physical examination to ensure that the implants are correctly fitted to you.
Hope this helps!
It’s been 10 months since my BA. When does this scarring go away?
Scarring
Feb 19, 2019
Hi and thanks for your question,
It appears that the cream you are using is irritating your skin. I would speak to your plastic surgeon immediately and stop using the cream. I typically have my patients perform scar massage with a custom scar gel until the scar is no longer red. This typically takes 4 months. However, it does take a full year for scars to fully mature.
Hope this helps!
