You could start the adapalene right away but would just switch to a mild cleanser such as Cetaphil, CeraVe, or Purpose. You want to wash your face in the evening and let it air dry for 10-20 minutes before applying the adapalene. Make sure you only apply a pea sized amount of the medication.
