Mathew C. Mosher, MD

Name: Mathew C. Mosher, MD
Statement: Dr. Mathew Mosher is a board-certified plastic surgeon and the Medical Director of YES Medspa and Cosmetic Surgery Centre in Langley, British Columbia. With over 26 years of experience, he leads an experienced team that is dedicated to performing individually optimized cosmetic surgical procedures and nonsurgical treatments, finding the best solutions for each patient to create exceptionally natural-looking results.

“Plastic surgery can be life-changing, and each patient has unique, highly individualized concerns and goals,” says Dr. Mosher. “I take the time to understand each patient’s needs, and to inform and educate them about all of their surgical and nonsurgical options for improving their body image.”

Dr. Mosher earned his medical degree from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver before going on to an internship in general surgery at Saint Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver and a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.

He then headed to Santa Ana, California, where he was chosen for a prestigious fellowship in aesthetic surgery under the tutelage of renowned plastic surgeon Dr. B.F. Connell.

Additional training in Toronto, Honolulu, and Dallas followed before he returned to Vancouver and joined YES Surgery Centre. In 1997, Dr. Mosher was one of the first physicians in B.C. to introduce laser resurfacing, laser hair removal, microdermabrasion, dermal fillers, and pharmaceutical grade skin care to his medical practice. He maintains a commitment to teaching medical students, plastic surgery residents, physicians, nurses and laser technicians, which helps keep his staff advancing and learning.

“Plastic and reconstructive surgery requires an attention to detail and a dedication to lifelong learning, unlike many other aspects of medicine,” says Dr. Mosher. “Although my focus for the past 20 years has been cosmetic surgery and cosmetic treatments, I continue to be inspired by the advances made in all areas of plastic and reconstructive surgery.”

Dr. Mosher is board-certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada - Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, Canadian Laser Aesthetic Surgery Society, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

He is also an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia’s Division of Plastic Surgery, an Executive of the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and a past president of the Canadian Laser Aesthetic Specialists Society.

Dr. Mosher takes pride in making time to communicate clearly with patients, help them understand their options, and guide them through the entire process, to ensure that their expectations align with their result. “We ensure that the advice we give patients is something they can rely upon and will always be offered with their best interests in mind,” he says.

As a volunteer with Project H.A.N.D.S., Dr. Mosher has traveled to Guatemala to provide plastic and reconstructive surgeries to impoverished children and adults in need. Whoever and wherever his patients are, he aims to give them results that lead to satisfaction and self-confidence.

Blepharoplasty Transconjunctival vs Skin Pinch/Incision?
Lower eyelid bags require a customized approach.
Jul 20, 2023
There are many issues influencing the best approach to your concerns that requires a in-person consultation. The need for skin tightening with a pinch or laser debatable. Fractional laser can improve the skin quality and brightness. The contours require the surgical manipulation of the fat layer. Of course the skin management could also be done under local anesthetic as a secondary procedure if necessary.
Which is more effective and what system is better Smartlipo or SAFElipo?
The surgeon choice is the most important, not the technique or technology.
Jul 20, 2023
SAFElipo is a series of steps used to improve liposuction efficiency and reduce the risks of surface irregularities. This is an acronym (S:separate the fat, A: aspirate the fat: FE: Equilibrate the fat left behind) for the steps and technique. No technology or some form of power assisted liposuction is employed. Experienced Plastic surgeons have been using these steps for years but now it has become popularized. In most instances this will achieve optimal and equivalent results to other...
Weight loss before BFT? Is it better to lose excess pandemic weight gain before breast fat transfe
Stable weight should be achieved when considering all cosmetic surgery.
Apr 25, 2023
In general, patients considering body contouring surgery (including fat transfer) should be near their goal weight and with a routine that will help them to sustain this weight. Fat taken from the torso and transferred to the breast to enhance your breast shape will loose effect with weight loss after surgery. Fortunately, you are close to your goals already. Good luck.
Is it possible to go from an A Cup to D cup with breast fat transfer?
Fat grafting to the breast is more predictable when smaller volumes are transferred.
Apr 25, 2023
Successful fat transfer anywhere in the body is dependent upon many factors. When too much fat is placed, more fat dies and becomes scar. In my practice, we are most successful when less than 200 cc's are transferred to each breast. Studies have demonstrated that only 50-60% of this volume remains long term. There are some doctors who claim that they can successfully transfer large volumes of fat to the breast. Technique, experience and patient factors can influence the success of this...
Would a fat transfer be the best option for large breasts with low volume?
Breast fat transfer is helpful when there is insufficient natural tissue to shape.
Apr 25, 2023
When the breasts deflate and overhang the fold, augmentation with fat or an implant alone will not restore a youthful shape and position. You appear to still have a lot of breast volume within a breast skin envelope that has stretched. A breast lift that repositions your breast higher appears to be the best solution. Fat grafting may or may not be a useful adjunct to the procedure. Congratulations on your weight loss success.
