A native New Yorker, Dr. Copeland-Halperin was raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and attended the Horace Mann School. She studied at Williams College, where she earned her baccalaureate degree in Art History and played for the softball team. During college, Dr. Copeland-Halperin was selected to join the Humanities and Medicine program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, an early acceptance program designed to attract and foster humanistic medical students. After receiving her medical degree, Dr. Copeland-Halperin completed residency in general surgery at the Inova Fairfax Medical Center, a large tertiary care hospital in Northern Virginia, where she became Chief Resident for Quality and Safety and served on several hospital committees. She engaged in research on patient safety and quality outcomes in both general and plastic surgery and won awards for research and teaching.
After training in general surgery, Dr. Copeland-Halperin pursued additional training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where she was exposed to the full breadth of plastic surgery, including reconstruction after trauma and cancer, aesthetic and cosmetic surgery, wound healing and correction of congenital deformities. She then completed advanced training in microsurgery at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with a focus on implant-based and autologous breast reconstruction. She brings a humanistic dimension to plastic surgery and enjoys helping patients achieve their cosmetic, aesthetic, and reconstructive goals through a combination of surgical and non-surgical techniques.
Dr. Copeland is the very first female plastic surgeon with Harvard doctorates in both medicine and dentistry. She has a passion for helping her patients achieve their goals of looking and feeling their best, all while providing them with knowledge, care, and support to help them feel confident throughout their entire plastic surgery journey
At her Manhattan practice, Dr. Copeland offers a wide variety of surgical procedures for the face, body, and breasts. She specializes in body contouring, face and neck lifts, breast surgery, and mommy makeovers. She also frequently performs eyelid lifts, rhinoplasty, tummy tucks, butt augmentation, vaginal rejuvenation, and liposuction.
For patients interested in minimally invasive and nonsurgical treatments, she also offers CoolSculpting, Emsculpt, Thermage skin tightening, thread lifts, and Infini RF Microneedling, as well as injectables like Botox, dermal fillers, and Kybella. PRP hair restoration is an option for patients who are interested in treating hair loss.
Dr. Copeland has developed her own line of medical-grade skincare. She also offers a unique combination of nonsurgical skin rejuvenation treatments. By combining LaseMD, NdYag laser, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), LED, Micro-infusion, and LaseMD, the skin is smoothed and tightened, with a refreshed, youthful appearance.
With her unique educational background, Dr. Copeland is a standout doctor in her field. After earning her medical and dental degrees from Harvard, she trained in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and general surgery at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.
She then underwent advanced plastic and reconstructive surgery training at Downstate Medical Center before joining the Mount Sinai Medical Center, where she served as Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at the City Hospital at Elmhurst.
Board certified by the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Copeland is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She belongs to numerous other prestigious medical organizations, including the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Medical Women’s Association, and the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, among others.
