What are the 3 most important things to look for when choosing a dermatologist?
How to find a dermatologist
Aug 8, 2010
1. Board certification in dermatology. Many doctors practice dermatology who have had no training in dermatology. Unfortunately this is not illegal.

2. What kind of problem do you have? Deramatology has many sub specialists, such as surgical/cosmetic, Mohs surgery, contact dermatitis (allergy), psoriasis/ photo medicine. Ask your internist to ask their derm colleagues for the best person for your problem.

Would botox help for static wrinkles under my eyes?
Botox for under eye wrinkles
Aug 8, 2010
Do not get this area injected. There are muscles here that affect your smile especially at the sides. Also if you have lax skin, your eyes could just sink open a little and make things worse. Fractionated carbon dioxide laser is the best preventative treatment in my opinion
Skin is thin after using bleaching products
Thin skin after bleaching products probably due to strong steroids
Jul 23, 2010
You probably received strong topical steroids which are inappropriate for long term use, especially around the eyes. The best thing to do is to either nothing or if tolerated, use a lactic acid cream as long as it is not irritating. That would address lightening the area and building collagen and elastin back. Unfortunately, the damage can be permanent so nothing is guaranteed to help.
What should I do about sagging around mouth and jaw?
Fillers or laser for sagging
Jul 7, 2010
It's hard to tell what is best from the photo since you are turned sideways, but either wrinkle fillers alone or if you can afford it, fractionated carbon dioxide laser resurfacing and fillers would be best.
Possible to remove depressions caused by acne?
Depressed acne scars are treatable
Jun 11, 2010
Microdermabrasion is very slow for removing scars, even if it was done to the point of bleeding. Acne scars respond best to fractionated CO2 laser, traditional dermabrasion, and fillers. Ice pick scars are best removed first with punch excision and then followed by the above treatments. Someone with darker skin like you should be pre treated with hydroquinone cream and you must use good sun protection after the treatment. You are in best hands with someone with extensive experience with...
Laser treatment for "fleshy" facial mole removal
Have the fleshy mole shaved off and biopsied
May 5, 2010
Fleshy moles lend themselves well to shave removal. Make sure your dermatologist or surgeon sends the lesion for pathology to be evaluated by a competent pathologist.

Lasers in this case would just be a heat source and cause unnecessary thermal damage and risk of scarring (or just need for repetitive treatments). Most importantly, the lesion would not be evalutated for pathology and many "fleshy moles" can actually be skin cancers

Malignant acrospiroma of eyebrow - need a Mohs surgeon?
Malignant acrospiroma and surgery
May 5, 2010
Mohs surgery in coordination with sentinel lymph node biopsy with a head and neck surgeon would be a good way of assuring the best treatment for margin control and evaluating the lymph nodes. We often work together for cases like this.
