It is best to wait until 6 months after completion of breastfeeding before undergoing such a procedure; there is an increased risk of infection and capsular contracture otherwise. Additionally, pregnancy and breastfeeding affects the shape and size of the breasts, so allowing the breast size and shape to settle after feeding ceases is best for surgical planning.

Thanks for your question. Generally speaking, since those masses are benign, they do not require removal. Fat transfer is considered safe from an oncological standpoint. (That’s why we can do it in breast cancer patients). However, I would discuss the mass and potential upcoming surgery with the doctor who has been monitoring this mass, as well as your plastic surgeon.
