Breast Augmentation D Cup
In general, implant size does not correlate with bra cup size. The cup size itself will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer as well as who is doing the actual measurements.
Thus, cup size is never a reliable indicator for your breast size. I typically encourage my patients not to communicate her desires in cup size but more on the actual look and appearance.
Your goal is certainly attainable. Good communication between you and your surgeon of your expectations is warranted – choosing your surgeon wisely is the first step.
Discussion of your wishes and having an honest and open dialog of your procedure is mandatory (e.g, implant type, incision, placement, lift, etc).
I have found that photographs brought by the patient is helpful to get a visualization of the appearance you wish for in terms of size, shape, fullness, etc.
In addition, your surgeon’s pre and postoperative photographs should demonstrate a realistic goal for you. Also, sizing is helpful for both you and your surgeon preoperatively. Once this has been accomplished, allow your surgeon to utilize his/her best medical judgment during the procedure to finesse the best possible result for you after preoperative biodimensional planning and fitting the right implant for your breast width. (Lewis Albert Andres, MD, Scottsdale Plastic Surgeon)
Generally speaking- if you are a candidate for BA then a proper sizing will be performed at your consultation to achieve your goals of your ideal size. Your bra size will vary from company to company – there is no direct scientific correlation between implant size and bra cup size. Go by how you look during sizing (Thomas Trevisani, Sr., MD, Orlando Plastic Surgeon)
Breast augmentation is an excellent way to enhance your shape and increase size and two cup sizes is typical. The only limitations are the body frame and the stretch or elasticity of the breast. (Christopher J. Kovanda, MD, Minneapolis Plastic Surgeon)
It is very common to go from a B cup to a D cup up after breast augmentation surgery. Of course many factors contribute to the size of the breast after surgery, including the shape and size of the implants as well as how much breast tissue you have. (Erik Miles, MD, FACS, Charlotte Plastic Surgeon)
Many patients can undergo a 2 cup increase in size with one augmentation. However, there are many ifs. If a patient has very tight breast skin then it is more difficult. If there is a very narrow chest wall/breast width it is difficult. There is also very little agreement on what a true B, C, or D cup is! Every style and manufacturer of bras disagree. See a plastic surgeon who will measure you breast size and skin availability and help you chose an implant to reach your goal. (Scott W. Vann, MD, FACS, Savannah Plastic Surgeon)
The simple answer is YES but it will require a full examination with measurements to determine what might be the best size for you (Frederic H. Corbin, MD, Brea Plastic Surgeon)
Of course it is possible to enlarge from a B cup to a D cup breast in one procedure. This is commonly done. (Kenneth R. Francis, MD, FACS, Manhattan Plastic Surgeon)
Ultimately, the answer will depend upon your frame, but going from a B cup to a D cup is quite common. As a rough estimate is about 200 mL of volume per cup size. So it’s 400 ml implant mayI caution you, don’t go specifically by cup size or by numbers. Look at implant sizes on your frame to see if they achieve your goals and balance with your shoulders and your hips. Balance is sometimes more important than the numbers themselves.
In my own practice we allow our patients to try on actual implants to get a sense of how they will balance with the entire frame. A board-certified plastic surgeon in your area should be able to afford you this opportunity. (Adam Tattelbaum, MD, Washington DC Plastic Surgeon)
Seeing an experienced board certified plastic surgeon the is the best way to be evaluated and have specific issues addressed. Sizing the implant is an important area for you. Make sure all your questions are answered in your consultation. Best wishes (David C. Yao, MD, FACS, Phoenix Plastic Surgeon)
Could I go from a B cup to a D cup in one surgery if I undergo breast augumentation?
While it is physically possible to place a breast implant large enough to increase your size from a B cup to a D cup you should focus more on the look that you want to achieve.
You should see a board certified plastic surgeon for a breast implant sizing system evaluation during which specially shaped implants will be placed into a non-padded bra so that you can see how you will look with various size of implants.
The anatomic measurements of your breast particularly the width of your base we’ll also limit the size of implant that can be appropriately placed into your body.
Understand that different stores label the same bra different sizes thus a C cup at Macy’s will be labeled a D cup at Victoria secret. Please read the following blog on how to choose breast implant size. You may also want to the Rice test in the privacy of your own home. (Brooke R. Seckel, MD, FACS, Boston Plastic Surgeon)
Every patient is unique, however the vast majority of patients would have no problem with the change that you are asking for. Make sure that you see a surgeon that is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and explain what you are wanting. It is always good to bring in some photos also. (Gary Hall, MD, Kansas City Plastic Surgeon)
It is very possible to get to a “D” ish cup in one surgery. It really depends upon your anatomy. Best of luck in your decision to move forward. (Steven Wallach, MD, Manhattan Plastic Surgeon)
2 cup size increase
Many times, this degree of increase is possible, depending on your anatomy, degree of skin tightness, and other factors. Best to see a local plastic surgeon, who can evaluate your situation in-person, and advise you on the best approach. (Thomas Fiala, MD, Orlando Plastic Surgeon)
Can I go from a b cup to a d CIO with one surgery.
The general answer to that question is yes. However, to specifically say what type of implant would be required to bring you to that size, I would have to at least see photos.
If you are petite with a small chest size it can be more challenging in terms of having enough space for the a large implant. (Shaun Parson, MD, Phoenix Plastic Surgeon)
Impossible to answer your question without a physical exam. Please see a board certified PS for a consultation. (C. Bob Basu, MD, FACS, Houston Plastic Surgeon)
It is difficult to answer your question without pictures or measurements. If your breast tissue and skin will allow it then the answer is yes. It is best to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. (Mark Deutsch, MD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)
It is very likely that you would be able to undergo such an augmentation. This will depend on breast measurements and I recommend you see a specialist plastic surgeon who will be able to determine if you are a suitable candidate. (Vijith Vijayasekaran, MBBS, FRACS, Perth Plastic Surgeon)
This type of upsize is performed regularly with plastic surgeons. Of course a consultation with examination is advisable to be sure.
But if all boxes are ticked then increasing your cup size 2 sizes is very possible. (Benjamin Norris, MbCHb, FRACS(Plast), Sydney Plastic Surgeon)
A lot depends on your individual anatomy, pregnancy and/or breast-feeding history, and what your skin and muscles will accommodate. But as my partner Dr. Gervais said, we do this degree of increase all the time. Physical examination at the time of complimentary consultation will allow a much more accurate appraisal of whether or not your goals can be reached with one operation. I’m betting they can be. (Richard H. Tholen, MD, FACS, Minneapolis Plastic Surgeon)
