Will I get symmastia if I get a breast augmentation?
Symmastia
Feb 23, 2019
Thank you fo your question Verona. It is very unlikely for an Augmentation to cause symmastia. I have been specializing in Breast Surgery for 25 years and have placed over 8,000 implants. I have caused symmastia twice in my career, both cases were broad women that were very flat and emphasized the desire for close cleavage preoperatively. The implants I had chosen were wide to accommodate for their large base diameter, and their inner pocket were over-dissected. I…

Breast are too big
Feb 23, 2019
Thanks for the question Donna. Your distress is not unusual. There is frequently a dip in mood post-operatively for a few weeks. Don’t rush to judgement on the size of the breast this early, there is still significant swelling 17 days out. That being said, if the size is still too big at 6 month you can get a Downsize, but would likely need a more aggressive lift (Circumvertical or Inverted-T) to manage the extra skin from child-bearing. Good Luck.

Can I get good results without a lift?

Thanks for your question Jacqueline. The photos are very helpful: They show that you are very fit with low body fat, mild scoliosis (right shoulder higher), mild breast asymmetry but similar low volume, and bilateral Grade 2 ptosis (droop) R>L . You are likely to get significant improvement with implant alone, as long as it is a Dual Plane technique. You will still have a slightly lower than normal nipple position, but with time as the lower pole expands the breast…
My breasts are unproportional after reductive augmentation. How soon it can be fixed?
Breast too big after Reductive Augmentation
Jan 23, 2019
So sorry you are distressed about your appearance. As surgeons it is the last thing we want for our patients. You are extremely early in your wound healing process and from the photo all looks as expected at this time 3 weeks post op. It is too early to judge volume or symmetry, so don’t get too focussed on that at this time. You had one of the most complex breast surgery performed: Glandular resection, Implant augmentation and skin tightening. That is remodeling at…
Am I a mommy makeover candidate to get rid of my fanny pack and rocks and socks?
Mommy makeover
Dec 26, 2018
Thank you for sharing your photos, they were very helpful. You are a good candidate for a Mommy Makeover baring any health issues. The TT part is straight forward and you can expect dramatic improvement: most of the skin from your belly button to the pubis would be resected, the diastasis recti (muscle looseness) would be repaired and liposuction would be done for contour improvement.
The breasts need a lift, with or without an implant depending on your desired size…

Thank you for the question Faith. Make an appointment with your surgeon so he or she can take a look and give instructions. It does not look infected, but you either have a small dehiscence (wound separation) or a small area of umbilical skin necrosis. Neither are very serious complications and you will likely still have a fantastic result! It just requires a few weeks of wound care. Soap and water and the dressing of choice that your surgeon prefers. I don’t think you need…
Is this Capsular Contracture? (3 months post)
capsular contracture
Dec 25, 2018
Thanks for your question. I can understand your frustration, we always want our patients to have a smooth post-operative course, but some factors are out of our control, particularly capsular contracture. It’s hard to tell if you have CC, and to what extent without examining you, but if that left side is markedly firmer several months post surgery than CC is the likely culprit. CC is our biggest nemesis in BA surgery! We do our best to lessen it’s occurrence by being as atraumatic…
I’m currently 5 days post op. Since day 4 my breast have been tight heavy and firm. Should I worry
tight breast early postop
Dec 25, 2018
Thank you for your question. You are very early in your post-op recovery and it is very normal to feel tight. It takes several weeks for the muscle, breast and skin to relax. The only exception is if only one side is more sore, and more swollen (especially if the swelling is expanding), then you should call the surgeon immediately. Otherwise, follow the post-op instructions given by the office and keep your follow-up appointments.
Best of Luck,

What can I do about a hard lump on my hip at the end of my tummy tuck incision?
Tummy tuck incision lump
Dec 25, 2018
Thank you for your question. Looks like you are healing normally. This is to be expected at 4 weeks, the tissues don’t soften up for several months after surgery. Compression is helpful, and various scar creams if you have a propensity for bad scarring. Generally though, nothing much needs to be done other than giving it time to heal. So don’t worry too much, listen to your surgeon and his staff, this is what they do every day.
Good luck,

Is a breast reduction required with a lift for larger breasts?
Breast Reduction
Dec 25, 2018
Thank you for your question. Sounds like you are going to need a reduction, given your F cup size currently. If you are planning on loosing 90 lbs, I would do so before your breast reduction, as you will likely loose significant breast volume as a result. How much varies greatly from patient to patient. Generally weight loss patients require more extensive lifting procedures since the skin redundancy is more diffuse. They may require reduction of the remaining breast, augmentation with…
Is this already grade 2 ptosis? Which surgery would be best for my breasts?
Grade 2 Ptosis
Dec 25, 2018
Thank you for your question. You are correct, based on the pictures you provided you have 2nd degree droop. Your breast volume seems adequate, so the primary correction is a lift without implant. Our lifting techniques in recent years have included a significant amount of upwards gland mobilization and internal breast parenchyma suturing along with chest wall plication for more long lasting results that don’t simply depend on the skin tightening to maintain support. You…
In Breast Augmentation, Does Size Decrease As the Swelling Goes Down?
too big early post op
Nov 14, 2018
Thanks for your question Alice! You are my favorite kind of patient: Very conservative! There is nothing more unattractive than an overdone augmentation like you see in LA and Miami. I feel, probably as you do Alice, that if you can tell at a year post-op that a patient has had an augmentation then the surgeon has failed the surgery. Augmentation is to make the breast look normal, not to look Big! That being said, it is way too early to tell what your size will be at this…
Is It Normal to Have Breast Pain 3 Months After Surgery? I Feel Burning and Needles
Burning and needles 3 months after Breast Surgery
Nov 14, 2018
Thanks for the question, Isabella. You are describing postoperative “nerve” pain which is very common in any surgery, breast being no exception. Three months seems like a long time but it is still early in the healing process. It is very likely to improve over the next year. Nerves can be stretched (Neuropraxia) and cause numbness or hypersensitivity but resolve in 6 weeks, cutaneous nerves can also be cut (Axonometsis) in order to do a proper dissection or while repositioning breast tissue…
What happens if you get a hematoma after breast augmentation?
Hematoma
Nov 14, 2018
The hematoma is a collection of blood in the pocket of dissection after surgery. It’s a rare complication. If it’s small it can be watched as it can reabsorb on its own, although there have been reports of increased capsular contracture (hardening) after this complication. If it is large (significantly more swollen on one side) or if it is rapidly growing (Expanding hematoma) the patient needs to be urgently re-explored, the clots removed, the bleeding vessel stopped, the pocket washed…
What are my options for tuberous breast with tight lower pole/no upper pole fullness?
tuberous breast
Nov 4, 2018
Thanks for the question Adel. Your pictures show more of a constricted breast that true Tubular. The skin is tight and you have a short nipple to inframmamary (IMF) distance. So you probably will do fine with a simple augmentation without all the gland correction that is needed with Tubular deformity. I would be sure to be conservative with the volume and lower the IMF otherwise you are at risk of excess upper pole fullness and a downward pointing nipple. The type of implant is less…
